Seluruh masyarakat Timor Leste, baik yang ada di Timor Leste maupun yang sedang berada di luar negeri kini sedang mewanti-wanti siapa yang akan menjadi presiden Timor leste untuk periode 2012-2017. Dari pantauan media online yang kita baca hari ini semuanya berisi tentang lancarnya pelaksanaan pemilu presiden Timor Leste yang aman, lancar dan damai. Sedangkan hasil dari pemilu itu sendiri belum diketahui oleh khayalak umum siapa yang akan menjadi pemenang pada pemilu tahun ini. Memang ada banyak analisis maupun komentar yang masuk di blog menyatakan bahwa dari 12 kandidat yang mencalonkan diri paling tidak hanya 3 atau 4 kandidat yang dipastikan maju ke ronde kedua alias pemilu tahap kedua. Ke empat kandidat yang kemungkinan maju ke tahap ke dua adalah sebagai berikut: 1. Ramos horta 2. Taur Matan Ruak 3. Lu olo 4. Fernando la sama.
